Regain Ownership Of Your Practice's Meta Business Portfolio
If you don't have full control of your practice's Meta Business Portfolio, or if a previous vendor or employee has ownership of it and isn't able or willing to add you as an owner, don't worry — there is a process Meta has put in place to regain this access called an "Admin Dispute."
With the Admin Dispute process, you're able to provide Meta Support with proof of ownership of your practice, and they will grant you full access to the existing Business Portfolio.
Why Does It Matter?
It's important that your practice retain ownership of your Meta Business Portfolio (vs an agency or employee). Without full access to your portfolio:
- You will not have full control over your practice's Facebook Page and/or Facebook Ads Manager
- You can’t update important information without full access
- Some marketing options may be unavailable
- You may not be able to give other employees access to to your page
- You won’t be able to allow agencies or marketing partners to do work on your behalf
Option 1 - Try to Get Added by the Current Meta Business Portfolio Owner
If you haven’t tried already, try to contact the Meta Business Portfolio's current owner. Depending on your level of access to your practice's Facebook Page, you may be able to view this information in your Page Settings under “Page Roles”. There are two ways that a Facebook Page can be owned — either by an individual person or by a Business Portfolio account.
If you can find the current owner, send them these instructions to get yourself assigned as Page Owner.
If this person or business isn’t responsive, you can move to Option 2, and submit an admin dispute to Meta.
