Insurance Requirements For Google LSA Verification
General & Professional Liability Insurance
When setting up Google Local Services Ads (LSAs) for your dental practice, Google requires verification of both your general liability and professional liability insurance policies.
They require a Certificate of Insurance (COI) as part of the verification process. This step helps confirm that your practice meets Google’s safety and liability standards and is properly insured to serve patients.
What is a Certificate of Insurance (COI)?
A Certificate of Insurance (COI) is an official document issued by your insurance provider that proves you carry active liability insurance. It typically includes:
- Your practice name and address
- Insurance company name
- Policy number
- Coverage types and limits
- Policy effective and expiration dates
For dental practices, this usually comes from your general liability insurance policy or professional liability/malpractice policy, depending on your provider.
A COI is a standard document in the insurance industry, and looks like this:

Google’s Requirements for Dental Practices
For dental LSAs, Google typically requires:
- Active general liability insurance with your dental practice listed as the insured party.
- Active professional liability insurance for each provider at your practice listed on the LSA account.
Coverage that meets or exceeds $250,000 per incident for professional liability.
The COI must show:
- Your practice’s legal business name (matching your LSA application).
- Policy dates (must be active at the time of submission with an expiration date of more than 30 days out).
- Insurance carrier information.
Note: Google does not accept invoices or policy declarations. It must be a formal COI document.
Where to Get Your COI
You can obtain a COI from:
- Your business insurance provider or agent
- Your insurance portal
- Your insurance broker
Tip: Let your provider know this is for Google Local Services Ads verification. They are familiar with issuing COIs for advertising and verification purposes.
Common Issues to Avoid
- Mismatch in business name: The COI must match your dental practice name exactly as listed in your LSA profile.
- Expired policy dates: Make sure the policy is current; expired COIs are automatically rejected.
- Submitting the wrong document: A policy invoice or summary isn’t the same as a COI and won’t be accepted.
